In response to this year's contest theme, "Sanctuary," we received 300 poems from 148 different poets in 17 countries. Judging by this response, the theme resonates with people of various religious traditions and backgrounds. The poets included in this anthology examined sanctuary from many different angles. From the peace one finds in nature, to the peacefulness of a church, to the peace refugees seek in a new land, the concept was explored with beautiful and challenging words.
