Derek Joaquin Murphy has been working in ministry most of his life. He began by singing in church with his family, and by his preteen years began to play the organ, piano and keyboards. At age fourteen, the young musician helped to form a youth choir, Instruments of Praise, and served as youth minister of music and choir director for his home church Rose Hill Church of God in Christ. Although he tried to escape it, he ultimately surrendered to the call and began preaching in April of 1999. Currently, Derek serves the lead pastor, and teacher at Rose Hill Church of God in Christ, and is married to his high school sweetheart, the former Angela Pickett, an awesome teacher in her own right.
