The Woods is a visual Fairy Tale.



Originally published in 1996, the photographs for this book were made between 1985 and 1991. Although they are more than 20 years old they still speak to me the same way they did then.



The original photographs are sepia toned silver gelatin prints. They are a combination of photography and drawing created by a process called paper negative, a time consuming and highly demanding process that is now for the most part extinct. Much of my life at that time was spent in the darkroom trying to master this vintage technique. Even though those days are gone and I am now content working in the digital darkroom on my computer, it’s nice to remember that time and the work that was created then. Of all the images I have created, these are probably the ones with which I most closely relate.
