In 1895 gold was found in this desolate desert region and soon after a town grew on the outskirts of the mine. Randsburg is a ghost town that has never really died and continues to have a living population of about 66 people. This area is popular with dirt bike and motorcycle enthusiasts, as well as European tourists. The Goat's Sky Ranch, owned and operated by Todd "Goat" Breker, is a popular overnight destination.
