In the bleak winter months of 2009, two friends who lived far apart decided to embark on a creative journey. One, who resided in New York City, and the other, who lived in Kansas City, would each take a daily photo of something around them. Then, each day, they shared the photos simultaneously. They called the project NYC + KC. Some days the photos were magically aligned. Other days, not so much. Regardless of subject or composition, each photo tells the story of a day in the life of the photographer. The pairings illustrate how a friendship lasting 20 years can still create joy and surprise, even when two people are far from each other.
