This book is the first of a series that addresses the episodes of one of the greatest masterpieces of world literature - the Shahnameh. This one focuses on the myriad of heart-wrenching stories during the reigns of the Pishdadian kings. These stories are abbreviated through an illustrative flow for each episode, with relevant short text. The famous illustrations that became an integral part of the Shahnameh originated between the 14th and 18th century CE, from miniature paintings - some of which are among the most magnificent masterpieces of Iranian art. This book series is the first of its kind to contain digital images of the original miniature artworks, unlike some of the recent ones that have edited and modified the imagery.
