Jennifer Bain was born into an artistic family in New York City in 1955. Originally from Canada, her parents came to New York to take advantage of the rich culture and vibrancy of the American art scene. This environment was primary in forming the artist’s creative genesis. Fortunate to attend the Rudolph Steiner School, where education through the arts is emphasized became secondary in her foundation. In pursuit of a creative, yet practical career, she earned an A.A. degree in Fashion Design and worked successfully in that field until her mid twenties. After a devastating illness in which she nearly lost her life, her original and true calling was affirmed and she returned to art school receiving a B.F.A. from The California College of the Arts in 1981 and a M.F.A. in painting from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1985.
