Fin novembre 2003, j’entamais un périple d’un an autour du globe à Sydney, envoyant régulièrement des instantanés de voyage par courriel à ma famille, mes amis proches et autres connaissances. Ces images étaient toutes au format carré; travail discipliné de sélection, de cadrage et de collection de mes perspectives exploratoires sur le monde. Quinze ans plus tard, la série compte 1500 SQuares of the World, pris dans 24 pays et autres territoires.
Les 295 images sélectionnées pour SQW295 sont présentées ici par ordre chronologique. Chaque cliché est aussi intitulé du titre d’une chanson, le dialogue entre musique et photographie étant constitutif de mon regard sur le monde. From November 2003 onwards, I began a year-long journey around the globe in Sydney, e-mailing regular travel snapshots to my family, close friends and other acquaintances. These images were all in square format: a disciplined work of selection, framing and a collection of my exploratory perspectives on the world. Fifteen years on, the series has amassed 1500 SQuares of the World, from 24 countries and other territories.
The 295 pictures selected for SQW295 are presented here in chronological order. Each of them is also titled from a song, the dialogue between music and photography being constitutive of my perspective on the world.
