À propos du livre
Evolution of 8 years of Why do I loose myself in monotypes?
Don’t expect high-flown pompous motives. Printed monotypes, in my case, are the response to a technical restriction that I experience when having the painfully choice between modulating, painting or drawing. For me, a monotype contains all those elements. Reality is basic and banal.
Looking back on the last eight years of being intensely occupied with graphic art, I see an alternate succeeding and failing of the products of my brain. Witnesses had the occasion to observe my stubborn and unruly battle. Now and then it got accompanied by flying objects passing by their sympathetic heads, obeying to the kinetic laws.
While working I enjoyed fully the remarks and statements in our atelier. On a regular base I had intense conversations with some very dear and esteemed friends. Each remark of my teachers found somehow a breeding ground for my reflections. My method of working depends also on listening to and observing my environment. For me communication, exchange of views and ideas is part of the power of each project.
That’s why the making of monotypes is not merely a monologue, but also an active dialogue. Anyway, from the moment the work of art is realised, I disappear once more into solitude. And fill up as soon as possible the newly appearing emptiness with silence and creative contemplation.
