Jason Paige Smith started his career as a photojournalist in Colorado and earned a graduate degree in journalism from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Working for newspapers throughout Colorado, he enjoyed the challenges of making interesting images and telling stories, but really enjoyed telling stories of individuals through portraits. The process of getting to know someone and finding the best way tell each individual story is a challenge unique to every shoot, every individual and every location. Being part of this process and meeting people in their natural environment creates a connection and helps him learn more about not only the people he photographs, but the jobs and passions they have. The goal of this project and his work is to help share that connection with those who see the images and read the stories. Jason’s editorial images have been featured in publications such as The Guardian, The New York Times, Wall Street Journal and The Chronicle of Higher Education.
