À propos du livre
I like photographing dancers. I like the idea of taking a moving force of muscles, arms and legs, and freezing them into a perfect moment of sculptural form. I went into this project with the intention to convey frozen movements but it has since morphed into an interest in the negative space and shapes the dancer's bodies create. I realized while taking the photographs I see dancers as moving sculptures; their arms, legs, hair, and muscles all caught in a moment that becomes something else in itself. Dance is a beautiful art form, but I think the dancers turn into a whole other art medium when photographed. They cease to be a part of the dance and begin to be a singular being in time and space that is all negative space, leading lines, forms, and shapes. I want people to look at these photographs and see what I see, not dancers, but moving sculptures.
