Published on the occasion of Suchitra Mattai's solo exhibition, sugar bound, which was on view at the Center for Visual Art from August 30 - November 3, 2018. The exhibition was informed by the artist's family legacy of indentured servitude in the sugar fields of Guyana. sugar bound invites us to consider how we define home and what it means to belong.
