This book has been created to showcase all the Don’t Panic poster competition designs I’ve
entered over the past year or so. Don’t Panic is a distribution agency that is aimed at the
entertainment industry, each month they collate a pack full of gig flyers, art event promo pieces and much, much more. With a monthly circulation of over 80.000 it’s an incredible vessel for your work to be exposed to the viewing public. Each month creative types of all shapes and sizes are encouraged to tackle a theme which will be printed on an A2 poster which is then inserted into each pack. Each months theme is different, sparking a variety of unique and interesting responses from all those that enter. Each poster design entered is then voted for by the public, the top ten will then go forth to be judged by a team from Don’t Panic and a monthly guest judge.
What I love about entering these competitions is that each month the subject changes and in
essence is an open brief, open to be interpreted how you see fit. As you’ll see a great deal of the designs take advantage of white space combined with a simple idea. I have always been a huge believer in the K.I.S.S (Keep It Simple Stupid) theory, as I like to keep my design as simple yet as
impactful as possible.
