Once upon a time, a father told his children fantastic bedtime stories every night, where all their favorite things happened. The story of eight-year-old Jimmy and his friend, a Siberian tiger who happens to live in the woods beyond his backyard in northwest Michigan, is inspired by these bedtime stories, written by one of those lucky children. Tyger Tyger begins when Jimmy is saved from a human-eating wolf by a strange tiger in the middle of the night. Jimmy and his new friend, who he dubs “Mr. Tiger,” develop a close friendship as they try to understand and address the unusual and frightening behavior of this singular pack of wolves. They are perhaps too brave and too curious for their own good. It is not clear if either of them is long for this world. But one thing is certain: they are not going down without a fight.
