In December 1920 Lawrence and his wife Frieda decided to live in Taormina. In Sicily he wrote poems and books.. He was immediately fascinated by the landscape , the people and the volcano . He wrote to one of his friend " Etna is a beautiful mountain, far lovelier than Vesuvius".
