À propos du livre
This book has 26 full page photographs and reproductions of famous artwork. Extensive notes are included in an appendix for added enjoyment.
If purchased it is recommended to use "premium paper" and custom workflow" options to assure the highest quality reproductions.
When looking at artworks, including photographs, individuals “see” them differently based on their own interests, experiences and knowledge. For example, two common points of view are scientific and aesthetic. When birds are photographed there is a combination of technical subject matter and beauty. An ornithologist or birder will probably focus on the technical aspects of the bird - the detailed appearance, the behavior, and the habitat. On the other hand, an untrained observer may well focus more on the scene portrayed, the aesthetics of the picture, or the bird's appearance in human terms.
These pictures in this book were chosen to not only illustrate but to stimulate the viewer to
“see” each photograph in multiple ways but especially to see parallels with human emotions without anthropomorphizing. In each case a picture of a human or human created object is paired with a photograph of a bird. Throughout the picture paired with each birdphotograph is art in its own right - oil paintings by masters, sculptures, performances by and of great artists
etc. With a few exceptions the particular pairings were made because the author had seen the art and associated the bird photograph with these remembrances.
