David Standen recently retired from a career as a lecturer and teacher of maths and astronomy at one of the best girls' grammar schools in the UK to concentrate on his writing. His other interests include a passion for classical music and he plays both the piano and organ. Following the death of his wife Karen, he lives alone in Surrey.
