Jane Hinkle wrote a column called "the Sporting Scene" for her local newspaper for much of the 1960's and 70's. The column was conceived to promote the growth of the thoroughbred horse business in Shelby County, Kentucky, but along with the racing and breeding statistics are many wonderful stories of life on a Kentucky horse farm and in a small town.
