In June and July of 2010, Dean MacKay, slept on 50 different couches in 50 consecutive nights and took photos of the couches, his hosts, and their homes. It was an act, initially born out of necessity. He needed a place to sleep when he could no longer afford his own. What it became, was a unique, transformational journey that continues to this day. This book is the first in a series of photography books, documenting that experience.

Dean MacKay is a photographer at Dean MacKay Photography, dreamer at 50 Couches in 50 Nights, and publisher at Unsettled Press, based in Landers, California., but often found on the road, exploring new frontiers in Los Angeles, Maine, New York and many other places from Tacoma to Tampa, Denver to Dallas, and Phoenix to Boston, not to mention, our hometown of Ledyard, Connecticut. He's worked as a manny for two boys in Maine, and lived rent-free in Los Angeles, working as house and pet sitter. Prior to that he worked as a producer and manager in the entertainment industry in both LA and New York City. He has Bachelors Degree from Boston University. He was born and raised in Connecticut. Wedding, Event, and Interior and Landscape Design Photographer working in both film and digital. Clients have included Emmy Award winning actress, Heather Tom, of The Bold and the Beautiful , Pat Smear, guitarist for the Foo Fighters, and Kumho Tires. My work has been exhibited throughout Los Angeles
