À propos du livre
In the nineties, when fast negative film first turned up, I became fascinated by discovering the richness in colours, that different sources of light gave the town. It was only by making prints, I fully realised and also learned, what could be seen in twilight and at nighttime. I guess this is what Edward Hopper already had experienced and what also inspired his way of painting. That is what I have thought of afterwards, but perhaps was unconciously influenced by at the time.
The photographs were taken 1989-1991 and much of what you can see has disappeared since.
The pictures in the book have passed through a number of transformations before they ended up in this shape. First I made an exhibition with analog prints on transparencies lit from behind. Then I made prints on paper and here they are altered digitally to match the way I like to see them today.
