Jennifer's earliest memories - geckos on porch screens, gum stuck in her hair - were from Cuba, where she lived with her family while her father served in the US Navy. Sadly, they were never allowed to leave the base. Decades later, as Cuban-American relations were relaxing, she traveled to Cuba and became the first member of her family to finally engage with this rich and vibrant culture.
