À propos du livre
In his first voyage around the sun of poetry writing, Evan Moreland has synthesized his experiences into taut, spare language. Nothing is ordinary here. What appears to be, on the surface, a happy flashback or a fleeting impression, is so much more. We hear about love, anxiety, and a pretty girl with bangs, but Evan gently, yet directly guides us to the underlying conclusion. Life is crazy, random and hard under the veneer of American teenage experience.
The terse, spare language is reminiscent of both classic modern era poets like Sylvia Plath and William Carlos Williams, with a smattering of modern alt-rock sensibility. Evan's "Creep" could very well have been the voice of J. Alfred Prufrock asking whether he dared to eat a peach. His voice is one his peers will recognize, and one that will bring a sense of pathos to his elders.
