À propos du livre
A collection of drawings done alongside the Hudson River. She is an estuary, tidal. Twice a day she stops and changes direction, flowing back toward her source, Lake Tear of the Clouds. Two miles wide in many places but only, maybe five feet deep. Fourteen lighthouses at one point, eight remain. Guiding the ships carrying resources from and into the newly opened Erie Canal. And, steamships loaded with thousands of day-trippers up from the city to see the "wilderness" of the Hudson Valley. Includes several drawings of the Lenni Lenape, "the original man," the other natives called them. They lived along the Hudson for 10,000 years before Henry sailed north into their heaven on a ship named Half Moon in search of a shortcut to spices and gold.
