À propos du livre
A compendium of curiosities, culled from the backwoods of the artist's mind, including imagined beings and wild beasts, trumped up lands and places, maps that take you nowhere--and more. This book showcases 44 pieces of original art that Willson created for her "Imaginary Beings" 2015 solo exhibition at Levy Art and Architecture Gallery in San Francisco.
"Imaginary Beings" offers a selection of Willson's woodcarvings and her digital imagery--which she painted with her finger on an iPad. She also created a unique book design for the Beings, and set the book's type in her own hand-made Rustic LR typeface, with hand-drawn calligraphic titles. Think fresh, playful, thought-provoking with a strong dose of enchantment--and a trampoline to your own creativity.

À propos du créateur
Jane Willson Art
San Francisco, CA
I'm a figurative painter and a writer, drawn to historical narratives. I love to research, analyze my findings, write visually, and paint in a magical realism style. I embrace both traditional and digital painting tools in my arts practice. My current creative focus surrounds the worldwide cultural roots of fairytales. This focus has evolved into an artist book series that illuminates the tale of Red Riding Hood as a cherished cultural object: a tale that changes though time, place, and new technologies to spawn an infinite cycle of global retellings.
