A collection of jewellery developed for my final Masters project which explores the ‘essence’ that explicitly defines the mining district of the West Devon and Tamar Valley region and deals with this through an exploration of materials and processes. Pure tin elements are combined with "Material Landscape Jewels".

The work is informed by a methodology that builds upon:
• Archetypal forms, shapes and textures presented as a visual taxonomy of elements.
• Relationships between several elements and the way jewellery can be used to illustrate/create aspects of human activity with materials given of the landscape.

My specific interests within the creative process are geological processes of stratification and subsequent layered depositional re-sculpting of layers by man. These can be linked to the idea of ‘solidification’ of memory defined by the span between Holocene and Anthropocene eras, which I unearth through process, to create a mnemonic or re-interpretation through the focus on connecting ‘elements’ through additive, reductive, extractive and re-assembling techniques.
