BARCELONA, first in a new series of photobook portfolios to be published on an irregular basis by cultural historian and photographer Marco Buechl, is a collection of 93 uncropped b/w-photographs. Taken in May 2014, they cover a variety of urban settings around this bustling Mediterranean metropolis, ranging from rather obvious places of foreign interest to the more private parts of the Catalan capital hidden in backstreets and residential neighbourhoods. ///// THE PHOTOGRAPHS were taken on a recent digital SLR camera, while technique followed a classic approach with predominant use of a 35mm prime lens (occasionally shorter focal lengths were employed) and maximum depth of field.
