Friends Forever is intended to be a visual memory peg to insure that the very early childhood memories of these two children are not lost under the myriad of memories we all create throughout our lifetime. As a bonus the images capture the development of what will become a trusted and loving relationship between them.

Prior to meeting Remi, Elliot had filled his emotional needs with Spot. Spot went everywhere with him. That would change and his trust and faith would be put in Remi as his life became unpredictable and confusing through no fault of his own. When they were together, Remi was totally engaged in Elliot. He could trust that she would always have a listening ear and a warm smile just because he was near her.

Unfortunately, Remi’s life went into upheaval at a younger age than Elliot’s had. What was predictable in her life is that she would come to Nana and Papa’s everyday and Elliot would be there. He was her friend, her protector and when she could wrap a phrase around her experiences he was her listener. They were there for each other in bad times and good times and helped each other make sense out of what to them was a nonsensical world.

Together they have forged an emotional haven which has allowed them to move on through their formative years reasonably secure just by knowing they have each other. They have each learned what love and true friendship is. That is the memory I seek to insure will never be forgotten.

Elliot’s school year has been long for Remi. They snatch a day here, an hour there or a party filled with distractions. At this writing, Remi’s light from within is growing dim and her exuberance for life is suppressed but summer begins next week and they will again have a chance to return to the time when they were together every day and life was good.
