Everyone deserves the opportunity to feel beautiful if even for a moment. The models that I photographed for this project are not professional models, but my friends. My family. They are not the family that I was born into but the family that I chose to love and care about. I chose this topic and this group of young women because I know how hard it is to feel beautiful and confident in yourself. I witness this everyday with my friends and even within myself. I feel that it is difficult to feel beautiful because of the stigma put on women. I am the type of person who thinks that everyone is attractive in their own way, but when it is our own beauty that we encounter, we hold ourselves to higher standards that are not realistic, nor will they ever be. I wanted to use this opportunity and platform that is my senior thesis and make my friends, and even myself, see the unique beauty that I know we all posses before we everyone parts ways to go on to the next big adventure. My end goal for this series is for these women, and the viewer, to remember that they are beautiful and worthwhile and if they ever forget, look back at their photograph and their experience during the shoot to think of those things and remember that no one, not even themselves, can stifle their beauty and worth.
