In the summer of 2013, I forged a trail into the wilderness with my uncle Greg and his best friend Jessie. I had just returned from backpacking in Eastern Europe, and yet, somehow, being in the depths of the Wind River mountains made me feel farther away from home than I had ever been. And it was exhilarating.
