During the early 1970's I was a research assistant for the British Antarctic Survey and was based at Signy Island in the South Orkneys working on freshwater biology and meteorology. I was there for nearly three year without a break. No computers, no mobile phones etc. Then spent 2 years in Australia working in marine fisheries management for the Victoria State Government running various research programmes before returning to UK to continue a long career in the marine fisheries field. Retired aged 70 after 40 years involved in marine fisheries. Continue to enjoy photography and writing about a lifetime of some amazing experiences.
