À propos du livre
Muse's award-winning poems explore the origins and development of violin music. They move through time, drawing on the lives of the great Italian violin makers Gasparo da Salo and Antonio Stradivari, and celebrating the instrument in stories real and imagined. They rejoice in the violin’s physical shape (“The Woman Who Was Violin”) as well as its range and expressiveness, which changed music forever and in doing so, changed the world. The anonymous speaker in the poem “Why I Prefer the Rebec” reminds us of what the world was like before the violin.
Savre's fluid paintings provide a texture of depth and mystery. The paintings and the poems are meant to resonate together and convey a feeling of music.
