À propos du livre
This set of Dialogues, based on Urban Regeneration, will focus on the designer’s role in projecting for the city of 2050, and speculates on a range of methodologies that seek to reverse a set of deteriorating urban conditions. These vary from major urban trasformations to modest infill projects, all of which work towards and envision urban environments of greater social, economic, and ecologic sustainability. The diverse scales and contexts of these projects reflects the complexity of the challenges at hand, but also seeks to establish ground for the collective understanding of these local issues. In this period of unprecedented ecologic, climatic and energetic change, our cities will have to address a number of urgent and intransigent issues, from rising temperatures to an increased desire for mobility, from a shortage of food and water sources to a necessary proliferation of energy sources, from radically changed economic patterns to rapidly expanding urban populations. With regards to the future physical makeup of our cities, the next generation of built spaces and places will play a major role in the sustained continuity of our urban ecosystems.
