Edward Weston said: “If you can see your feet, you can see a photograph.” The concept of “Where We Walk” is simple: If you can walk on it, over it, around it, through it, by it or in it, the subject is fair game. I took these images during walkabouts in my neighborhood with a handful taken elsewhere. A simple stain in the sidewalk, paint drippings, the concrete drying after a rain, anything of interest is a perfect subject for this project.

Rusty Sterling

Rusty Sterling is an award winning photographer who has held a camera in his hands since he was 10-years-old. For nearly 20 years he worked as a photojournalist at newspapers in Southern California and Virginia. In more recent years he has begun studying with Richard Dischler, a renouned photographer who was a student of Ralph Weiss and Arthur Leipzig. A student of Dischler’s Pre-visualization workshops in Palo Alto, CA, Rusty Sterling has turned his eye toward fine arts photography. In that endeavor, he has won a number of awards for his fine arts photography, including Fine Arts Artist of the Year at the 2010 San Mateo County Fair. Rusty Sterling also is a musician and, as a consequence, has also become known for his photograph of musicians.
