In 1968 my grandparents received a letter from Brazil saying their son has died in a successful attempt to save his friend from drowning.

Besides the tragic news, the letter contained a picture taken hours or maybe just minutes before Elith went on the sea. It also contained pictures from the next day -his funeral.



The letter described how they have tried to get Elith's remains back to Denmark, saying if might take years. It is now 43 years ago, and Elith never came back home.



Now I have started a search to find out which church my uncle is buried by, and where exactly he drowned so I can visit the places and take photographs for my father who still is in grief over the loss of his little brother.

I would also really like to find the Friend Elith saved, as he might know some good stories/memories about him.



But it is hard as most people has died since then. I need all the help I can get.
