Pierre-Auguste Renoir said “Why shouldn’t art be pretty? There are enough unpleasant things in this world.” With this thought guiding me, I seek to capture and focus my photography on the beautiful people and scenery that can be found in unexpected places across the globe. One series within my portfolio is a study of post-earthquake Haiti. Many people only see the poverty and suffering there, not the beauty I know to exist. There are many inspiring moments and people in the images I have captured. These photographs present the culture of the island in a positive, honest manner. This cultural awareness is a large part of my work. I believe cultures can be photographed and shared as a beautiful yet powerful learning and awareness tool. My photographs use natural lighting and existing settings. Nothing is staged; they are all true moments in captured time. My passion is to create a beautiful image of a natural motion.
