I have been shooting with a phone camera and compact camera for a few years and last year I began experimenting with photo manipulation using applications for iPhone. Since joining InstaGram in spring of 2011, I have learned a lot and played a lot. Seeing that my phone and compact digital snaps had become more interesting, I felt that the time was right to make a book. Very different from my film photography, this collection of images represents a more experimental, creative, and fun side to my photography. I invite everyone to have a look and enjoy!

I have been having my photographs published regularly since 1994, first in North America and later in Japan and the U.K. as well. Since 2005 I have been writing articles to go with my photographs. From the beginning I have been interested in landscape photography and more recently in mountain photography. Now based in Japan, I spend most of my photographic outings in the mountains of central Honshu or shooting local landscapes. Until 2012, I continued to shoot with film and always travelled with at least two cameras - a 35mm and a medium or large format camera as well. Though I still prefer the look of film over digital, for economic reasons I shoot almost exclusively in digital these days. As I have also appeared on some travel documentaries in Japan in recent years, shooting in digital has been the practical and preferred way.
