À propos du livre
pieces is a black and white photo study of sea shells that are often overlooked due to their less than perfect condition.
the subjects are shells that have been broken and reformed by the power of the oceans waves. Each one is unique in it's ability to throw light and shadows in a much more interesting way than their untouched perfect counterparts. This project began as an idea a few years ago on the beach. While walking on Long Boat Key I stopped to collect a few broken shells with interesting shapes. By the end of the walk I had my pockets stuffed full of broken shells and my head full of creative ideas. I feel the shells have attained a second purpose in life by allowing me to make and share the gift of art. - JH

À propos du créateur
Jonathan Hale
new york, ny
I began my photo career in Chicago after college in the early 90's after a few years and a stop over in Greece I made my way back to New York where I grew up. My main focus was on fashion and beauty, now I shoot a combination of subjects for commercial, editorial, and art just to make me happy. It's actually my art that I'm taking more seriously now than anything else. I will be publishing a series of books in the near future so if you like my work check back once in a while for new releases. You may see some of my work at www.jonathanhale.com
