The following images were taken in a single studio session in an attempt to explore the basic, fundamental forms of a childhood toy; wooden blocks. These blocks were my father's. They were purchased for $12.50 in 1950, from a Southern Ohio department store. My brother and I played with these when we were young. Today, now that I am a father of two, these blocks are a soothing respite from the hyper-frenetic world of plastic, battery operated, single use toys that require no imagination or creation to play. All images were printed at 20"x20" and first shown March 24th, 2011 at Mithun, downtown Seattle. The exhibition ran from March 24th to May 3rd, 2011
