During the late winter of 2008 photographer Mariel Waloff worked with 29 high school students from West Philadelphia Catholic High School on a documentary photography project supported by the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The group worked together to explore the neighborhood they all share, and document its vibrancy: the people, places and cultures. They also photographed the inside of their own school--making surprising discoveries--and in doing so began to touch upon the nature of the relationship of West Philadelphia Catholic High School to the rest of its neighborhood.
