À propos du livre
In January and February 2011 I sailed south to Antarctica on the Heritage Expedition's 'Spirit of Enderby'. This journey was to celebrate the centenary of Scott's tragic attempt on the South Pole.
I had a very personal reason for participating in this trip. My grandfather, Raymond Priestley, was a geologist on both Shackleton and Scott's expeditions to Antarctica. He spent most of the period 1907-1913 on the Antarctic mainland. During this time he endured one of the worst winters imaginable, on Inexpressible Island, as a member of Scott's small Northern Party.
This book contains images that I took while on this voyage. I visited many of the places that grandad spent time in, including Inexpressible Island.
The book also contains the text of a talk I gave about my grandfather during the voyage.
