"For These My Brethren" is about the beginning of the Welfare Plan in the Pioneer Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jesse M. Drury was out of work and Bishop of the 5th Ward at the time and was a major contributor to the Welfare of his ward and the stake. His contribution shaped the program which is now the Welfare Program of the Church.
