In July 2010, I travelled to Gondar, in the north of Ethiopia. While I was there, I taught English for a charity called Link Ethiopia, which specialises in linking Ethiopian schools with partner schools in the UK; carrying out much-needed support projects; sponsoring children and sending out volunteer teachers.



Aside from teaching at a local school, I also travelled to other parts of the country, including Lalibela, Addis Ababa and the Simien Mountains - each was a special experience in its own right, but for very different reasons.



Throughout my time in the country, I made an effort to sample the local cuisine, to grow accustomed to Ethiopian traditions, and to learn about the country's heritage. Along the way, I made friends that I will remember forever and saw things that I will never forget.



This journal records the time I spent there, and contains memories and pictures of an experience that has certainly altered my outlook on myself, the Third World, and the people who inhabit it.
