À propos du livre
In Camp Arion explores the basic building blocks of an arbitrary modern city, highlighting the maddening temporality and uniformity.
The camp is a temporary habitation. The city is a camp, which took roots, what we do not drag with us through our journeys, but through time. In fact it drags us. We, townsmen are watchmen, even if we’re not exactly like the night-watchman. The only superior aim of our variegated activities is to guard the camp. Day after day we try to stabilize the provisionality, and every time we fail to notice that the camp can only be temporary by it’s nature. We populate it, enlarge it, but it becomes empty by the caprice of fate and history. After the final evacuation the difference vanishes between the barracks of the bunk-houses, the estates, the pioneer, internment and refugee camps. Abandoned camps are all the same.
This book is a re-edited, english version of the Camp project that was first published by Holnap Kiadó under the title TÁBOR in early 2007.
