This book highlights the beauty of the land and the people of Sichuan. It showcases the diversity, from the picturesque landscape of JiuZhaiGou and Huanglong, to the bustling city of Chengdu, to the dreamy and mystical mountains of Emei and the impressive Giant Buddha of Leshan.



The pairings of images demonstrate diversity by contrasting the picturesque with the mundane; mixing the cultural and industrial with the natural; combining the bustling with the serene; juxtapositioning the religious with the worldly; and complementing the colors, textures and shapes of the natural scenery with architecture and manmade constructs.

Santa Clara, CA, USA

May Kovalick was born and raised in Hong Kong. After graduating from high school, she came to the U.S. to attend university. She graduated with degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley. May had a career in the software industry in Silicon Valley. In 2001, she left her position as Engineering Director to spend a year in London with her husband. Upon returning, May spent time studying and pursuing her passion in photography. Her photographs have appeared in a number of venues in Northern California. May enjoys travelling and does volunteer work. She and her husband live in Santa Clara, California.
