À propos du livre
Ancient Rings traces the evolution of Jim Scheller’s kilnformed glass series through 107 vessels created from 2021 through 2026. Built from thousands of individually cut glass elements, the works explore color, light, structure, repetition, memory, and the changing relationship between intention and discovery.
Presented chronologically, the book allows the series to unfold visually—from the earliest vessels through increasingly open, fluid, and expressive compositions. Scheller’s brief preface reflects on the process of making: beginning with a direction, responding to what emerges, and eventually listening to what the work has become.
With a foreword by Madeline Beck, Curator of the Marietta Cobb Museum of Art, Ancient Rings is both a record of a sustained body of work and an intimate look at an artist’s evolving conversation with glass.
