À propos du livre
What if nothing is wrong with us?
What if we have simply been trying to live through something enormous without a map?
The Human Map: Kerr County Field Edition is a small field guide for finding language, company, and one ordinary next step when life has become too much to hold all at once.
Born in Kerr County, Texas, The Human Map imagines six regions of human experience:
Shock Canyon
Where everything changes suddenly.
Grief River
Where love moves in waves.
Burden Plateau
Where helpers carry too much.
Loneliness Desert
Where people feel unseen.
Community Valley
Where people begin again together.
Meaning Mountains
Where stories become wisdom.
These are not stages to complete. You may be in more than one place. You may circle back.
Each region offers language for recognizing what may be happening, practical care matched to the terrain, words to borrow when your own are hard to find, and a next step small enough for an actual human nervous system.
The book also includes a community healing map, a leader's compass, a feelings map for children, field notes, practical language for helping without adding more work, and the Porch Light Practice:
Notice somebody.
Name what is real.
Make one thing easier.
Come back.
Leave the light on.
This is a map, not a verdict. It is not a diagnosis and does not tell anyone how they should feel.
For survivors, helpers, parents, teachers, pastors, responders, community leaders, and ordinary people living through a lot.
You are not broken. You are simply somewhere on the map.
