À propos du livre
Over the years I have come to think of life as something rather like walking through a wide, shallow puddle. None of us know how large that puddle is or how long it will take us to cross it. What we do know is that every step we take sends ripples outwards.
Those ripples touch other people, other places, and other moments in time. They overlap, collide, and blend with the ripples made by others, and together they form the shifting pattern of our lives. For each of us unique, some interactions are brief and barely noticed, others change our direction entirely, but all of them leave a mark, however small.
If we move cautiously, placing each foot with care, the ripples we create are gentle. Life may remain quieter, calmer, and perhaps safer, but the chances of encountering others along the way are fewer. Walk boldly, however, and the water splashes higher. The ripples travel further, collide more often, and bring with them opportunity, risk, conflict, and reward in equal measure. Neither way is right or wrong they simply lead to different lives.
This book is a record of the ripples I have made. It is not an attempt to present a perfect life or a carefully polished version of events, but rather an honest account of where my steps took me, the people I collided with, and the places those collisions led. Some choices were deliberate, others accidental, but each played a part in shaping the pattern that followed.
If these pages mean anything at all, I hope it is simply this: that lives are not defined by grand plans alone, but by movement by stepping forward, engaging with the world, and accepting that wet feet are sometimes the price of living fully.
