À propos du livre
smile, girl. by Beth Léon is a raw, unfiltered poetry collection that peels back the glossy surface of “having it all” to reveal the quiet battles so many fight alone.
Told in intimate, confessional verse, this book traces the arc of love, heartbreak, obsession, self-doubt, and the exhausting pressure to keep smiling when you’re falling apart inside. From intoxicating romance and devastating betrayal to the suffocating weight of expectations, she captures what it feels like to be “too much” and “never enough” at the same time.
These poems speak to:
- The girl who loved too deeply and lost herself.
- The woman who feels surrounded yet unbearably alone.
- The high-achiever who looks perfect on the outside but is crumbling within.
- Anyone who has ever wondered, “What if I’m just broken?”
With haunting imagery and brutally honest repetition—Smile. Laugh. Repeat.—this collection explores mental health, toxic love, identity, and the masks we wear to survive. It dives into the darkness without flinching… but it also leaves space for something else: the fragile, flickering possibility of light.
If you’ve ever:
- Cried in your car and pretended you were fine five minutes later
- Confused attention for love
- Felt like a “stepping stone” in someone else’s story
- Wondered who you really are when the mask comes off
You will find yourself in these pages.
smile, girl. isn’t just poetry. It’s a mirror. A confession. A quiet hand reaching for yours in the dark.
And most importantly, it’s a reminder: you are not alone.

À propos du créateur
Beth Léon
San Diego, CA
Beth is an aspiring poet based in San Diego. Her debut collection, smile, girl., explores love and loss, insecurity, depression, and the resilience it takes to survive life’s darkest moments. Drawing from her personal experiences, her work as a crisis counselor with The Trevor Project, and a 22-year career in the U.S. Navy, Beth writes with honesty and hope. Influenced by her background as a musician and artist, her poetry blends lyrical rhythm with raw emotion, seeking beauty within chaos. She lives with her son, Oliver, and two dogs, Maya and Simone, and hopes her work reminds readers they are never alone.
