À propos du livre
The stories and images come from long days, bad weather, quick decisions, and a shared sense that good pictures happen when you stop overthinking them. Each chapter — from Genie’s Bottle to The Fabulous Firkin Factory — captures a different kind of moment: funny, cold, tense, beautiful, or just plain human.
It’s not a glossy fashion book or a studio portfolio. It’s the story of two people chasing light, opportunity, and a little bit of chaos — and getting the shot before the feeling disappears.

À propos du créateur
Dave Foss is a New York–based photographer whose work is built on natural light, real locations, and the moments that happen when you stop trying to control everything. For more than fifty years, he has photographed people in environments that are often unpredictable — abandoned structures, working spaces, riverbanks, streets — letting the light and the setting shape the image as much as the subject. His approach is instinctive and collaborative, relying on timing, trust, and a willingness to follow what unfolds rather than force it. His photographs sit somewhere between documentary and fine art, balancing simplicity, intimacy, and a quiet sense of observation. Many of his projects are presented as sequences, where the images — and the stories behind them — reflect not just how something looked, but how it felt to be there. Foss continues to publish his work in independent books and magazines, focusing on honest, unrepeatable moments that exist only once — and then are gone.
