A Comic About Dementia, Grief, and Laughing Anyway
When her mother was diagnosed with moderate dementia, Nicole didn’t expect to find herself laughing. But as dementia tiptoed in and rearranged their world, humour became a lifeline. Well, toodaloo is a comic memoir that explores the heartbreak, absurdity, and unexpected joy of watching a loved one slip away.
Told through tender, often hilarious illustrations, this book captures the strange rituals, word fumbles, and quiet chaos of caregiving. From surreal conversations to small, shining moments of connection, Tohdaloo embraces the mess of it all — with grace, grit, and a wicked sense of humour.
For anyone who’s navigated dementia, grief, or just the impossible task of letting go, this is a story that says: you’re not alone. And yes — it’s okay to laugh.
